On Saturday, October 18th and under the lead of PRFU Director Peter Lawrence and PRFU Consultant Matt Cullen was held the 1st leg of the ACTIVEFUN Junior Rugby Challenge at British School Manila.
Amongst the more than 12 participating teams, a team close to PRFU’s heart, the Angeles Bahay Bata Orphanage came undefeated in both U14 and U10 categories. True and heart-warming success story of how rugby, through the generosity of long-time supporters Potbellied Pigs RFC of Hong Kong and the Manila Nomads Sports Club and the technical support of the PRFU, can change these kids’ lives.
The boys showed some true rugby skills and co-coach Matty reckons there is National Team material in there. Imagine the story. Let’s keep working regularly with them and it will happen. That’s development. With a heart.
After a long bus ride and 6 hard games each, the boys truly deserved some R&R and co-coach Romain Barberis hosted a victory swim-n-lunch at the Bunker. Albert Talosig and David Lising were awarded MVP respectively for U10 and U14. Not sure if the boys had any strength left to sing in the bus, but they surely will remember that day and will want to win some more soon. Well done and thanks to all involved!
With the Asian International Rugby Union Season upon us current and prospective Filipino-Heritage Rugby Union Internationals are hard at work with the Parramatta Two Blues Rugby Union Club preparing for the Asian 5 Nations (A5N) Division 3 tournament being held at the University of Makati in the Philippines between the 1st and 4th of July.
