The Up and Rising "The Baretto Blues Rugby Club"

The Baretto Blues made their first appearance at the Fat Boy’s 10 September 6, not a bad start to the new club considering we only had a few player turn up for the first time to be introduced to Rugby Union. Coach Tony Noakes and Captain Murray “Muzza” Domb were very happy with the performance that was produced for the first time.

The Blues are up and running now and preparing for the future tournaments and the 2009 Manila 10’s. The Baretto Blues are sponsored by Blue Rock Resort. A star studded mix of Philippine, New Zealand, Australian players.

The Blues were formed in July 2008, to help promote rugby in the Subic area, the Blues recently began training in August and hold beach training sessions including touch football every Saturday. The club also uses Brent International School for home games until such time that we can find our own home ground. Veteran rugby star Murray Domb, will take command of the team blessed with youth, exuberance, bulk and speed to burn.

Murray (Muzza) has been part of the Philippine rugby circle for the past 9 years and started playing in the Manila 10’s in 1991. The Blues are looking forward to entering all the Philippine tournaments in the near future. The word is out that Rugby has hit Subic. GO THE BLUES.

With the Asian International Rugby Union Season upon us current and prospective Filipino-Heritage Rugby Union Internationals are hard at work with the Parramatta Two Blues Rugby Union Club preparing for the Asian 5 Nations (A5N) Division 3 tournament being held at the University of Makati in the Philippines between the 1st and 4th of July.
