An impromptu Philippine Barbarians team came out on top of a 46 - 28 try fest over the crew of the MV Doulos, 3 days before Christmas. The BaBas were made up of players from various PRFU clubs who answered the call to arms during the festive break The Doulos (made up of a mainly inexperienced players) came out with a great game plan that included committing at least 8 men to every ruck and 4 men to every tackle. From the opening kick, they made their presence felt, putting 2 players in the hospital on their first tackle... their own players.
The BaBas took what looked like a comfortable 36 - 7 lead into halftime, but shoddy play kept putting the ball back in the hands of the Doulos boys who made a late run and got to within 8. But a denied try on a penalty restart from the 5 meter turned the momentum back to the BaBas who were able to add a couple more tries and control the ball for the last 15 minutes of the game.
