National Junior Rugby (U19) Trials for 2007 ARFU Junior Championships PDF Print E-mail

The Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) will be conducting National Junior Rugby Trials for selection of players for the upcoming 2007 Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) Junior Championships.

All rugby players:
    - who were born between 1 January 1989 and 31 December 1990 (Under 19s)
and
    - who were born in the Philippines; or
    - who have one parent or grandparent who was born in the Philippines; or
    - who have completed thirty six consecutive months of Residence
are invited to participate in the trials.

TRIAL DETAILS

Date:

Saturday 24th November 2007        

Venue:  

Brent International School, Mamplasan, Binan, Laguna

Time:

9:00am till 1.00pm

 

The trials will be conducted during the scheduled Brent International Schools MANSAC League Rugby Tournament.

PRFU National Coach and Head Coach of the Philippine National Junior Ruby team Matt Cullen, as well as PRFU Development Officer Murray Domb will be watching games throughout the tournament.

Those selected to represent the Philippines team will be announced at the end of the tournament.

If you are not a member of an MANSAC League schools team (e.g. a high school player) please contact the PRFU Office and register your intention to participate in the trials so we can arrange for you to participate in one of the teams for the day. 

 

ARFU Junior Championships
The ARFU Junior Championships is recognized throughout Asia as the premier Junior Rugby Championship.
The International Rugby Board (IRB) holds a Junior World Rugby Tournament each year.  As a lead up to this tournament ARFU conducts a qualifying tournament each December from which the top teams will progress to represent their countries and the region in the IRB Junior World Trophy.
This year the ARFU qualifying tournament is being held in Brunei Darussalam from Friday 14th December to Saturday 22rd December 2007.
