The Philippine Under 19 rugby team got off to a solid start in the first game of the Asian Championships in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on Monday. Playing against Guam (at the Taiwan Military Academy), the Philippines maintained their discipline and ground out a 12 – 3 win against a Guam team with a very physical forward pack. The game was marred by some bizarre refereeing decisions which resulted in an astonishing amount of penalties being awarded ( 50 ) and a total of 10 players being sin-binned. |

Arch rival rugby clubs Manila Nomad and Alabang Eagles met at Cuenca Field, Ayala Alabang Village for round 2 of the PRFU 15s League on Saturday 14th of October. Both men’s and ladies teams played each other in a fine display of Rugby & Touch Rugby. Alabang vs Nomads The main game was between the two powerhouses of Philippine rugby who have a history of competition and now pride was at stake for this game. From the start of the game it was nip and tuck with tries coming in from both teams. Nomads had the more experienced and heavier pack but it was the Eagles possession of the ball and tactical kicking that won them the game. The Eagles won 34-24. |
