Philippines convincing victors over Guam PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 29 June 2007

The Philippine national rugby team scored a convincing victory over the visiting Guam side on Wednesday afternoon.

Playing in front of a sizeable crowd at the Nomad Sports Club, the home side controlled the game throughout the first half with inside pairing of Gareth Holgate and Michael Letts marshalling the backline and each bagging a try. The first came after a sustained period of pressure and twelve phases of play. The quick recycling of ruck ball by the Philippine side was superb all afternoon. Both tries were converted by Sydney based Filipino Ron Pena. As expected the Guam team proved to be formidable opponents in the tight and only determined defense by the visitors restricted the score to 14-0 at the break.

Eagles win in dramatic fashion PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 09 March 2007

Alabang Eagles Rugby Club win the Alabang 10’s Rugby tournament in a dramatic fashion against old rivals Nomads Rugby Club 10-7.

The Eagles blazed through their pool games and semi-finals with a breeze until facing off with Nomads in the finals. Nomads, looking to turn the tables and again become the number one team in the Philippines since their loss to the Eagles at the Sinulog 10’s, came in with all guns firing. As usual, a hard knocking game up front was to be expected, even with the sudden down pour of rain which gave the game more intensity.
