Based in Ayala Alabang Village, the Alabang Eagles and is a mixture of expatriate and Filipino players.
The Australian coach, Matthew Cullen, explains that rugby is becoming a popular sport in the Philippines and the club is made up of players from all ages and countries. “We have 15 year olds to 50 year olds and everyone enjoys the fitness, fun and friendship that comes from playing rugby.”
The Alabang Eagles have swooped onto the Philippine Rugby scene and despite just being formed in 2003; have acquired the services of a full time Development Officer who will work in schools around the Alabang area, teaching students the basic skills of touch and Walla rugby. A Junior Division is also being started with children aged 5 – 15 years participating and learning about touch and contact rugby. We promote and develop Rugby among the students at Tuloy foundation.
So far the club has 60 registered players, ranging through all ability levels. Beginners are welcome and the experienced players at the club are more than happy to help explain and teach the game to anyone who is willing to learn.
Please feel free to contact our family orientated club, “The Alabang Eagles” and start playing Rugby Union here in the Philippines.
